Purpose

The dialog is used to edit the dimensions, schedules and materials of angled stubon (set-on) components. The angle is default set to 45 degrees. The tab Component is used to select all angled stubons for all line sizes. There is no tab for alternative angled stubons. The tab Detail dimensions is used to view a drawing of an angled stubon and to optionally edit the dimensions.

Use the dialog for stubon components when (angled) alternatives are needed.

Description

  • 'Project number', to identify the project or plant by number. The number is shown in various reports.
  • 'Pipe Class', the name or number to identify the pipe class. The number is shown in various reports.

Tab sheet Component shows a list of angled stubons per line size.

The following data fields are available:

  • 'Table', a table of selectable angled stubons with the main properties. Each cell represents one angled stubon and only shows the stubon type. Select one or more cells and use the other fields to set the properties.
  • 'Stubon type', the following types are selectable:
    • 'UF', Unreinforced stubon. The angled stubon consists of 2 preselected pipes. The pipe properties can not be changed here.
    • 'RF', Reinforced stubon. The angled stubon consists of 2 preselected pipes and 1 selectable reinforcement plate (pad). The pipe properties can not be changed here.
    • 'CF', Custom Fabricated stubon. The angled stubon consists of 2 selectable pipes and optionally 1 selectable reinforcement plate (pad). The properties of the pipes are initally set equal to a UF stubon. All properties can be changed with the thickness usually thicker than the pipe schedules.
  • 'Standard', the standard for one or more angled stubons. The run and branch use the same standard.
  • 'Header schedule/Rating', list of available selectable schedules according the standard for the run pipe, cone or sphere.
  • 'Branch schedule/Rating', list of available selectable schedules according the standard for the branch pipe.
  • 'Reinforcement Pad Material Standard', the material standard of one stubon pad. Use the buttons to change or remove a material standard for one or more stubon pads. For further information see PCC material selection window.
  • 'Reinforcement Pad Width', the width of one stubon pad. Use this field for one or more stubon pads.
  • 'Reinforcement Pad Thickness', the nominal wall thickness of one stubon pad. Use this field for one or more stubon pads.
  • 'Description', the description of one angled stubon. Use this field for one or more angled stubons. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. For further information see PCC pipe class edit window. This field is only used for reporting.
  • 'Note list', a list of notes of one angled stubon. Use this field for one or more angled stubons. This field is only used for reporting.
  • 'Commodity code', the commodity code of one angled stubon. Use this field for one or more angled stubons. This field is only used for reporting.
  • 'Weld joint quality factor z, E', the value for the weld joint factor of one angled stubon. Use this field for one or more CF stubons. The value ranges from 1 to 0. It is initially set by the default value from the pipe class settings. When you change the material, this value can change. Note that this is the joint factor of the opening.
  • 'Weld joint strength reduction W', select the material category that will set the value for the weld joint strength reduction factor W of one or more angled stubons. The value for W ranges from 1 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to reduce the (weld joint) strength even further than the weld joint factor. For high design temperatures, the factor W determines the deterioration of the strength due to the temperature.
  • 'Coefficient Y', select the material category that will set the value for coefficient Y of one or more angled stubons. The value for Y ranges from 0.7 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to calculate the minimum required thickness.
  • 'Material performance factor Mf', select the material category that will set the value for factor Mf of one or more angled stubons. The value for Mf ranges from 1 to 0 and is used in certain calculation codes to reduce the strength even further than the weld joint factor. For certain media like hydrogen, the factor Mf determines the deterioration of the strength due to the medium.

Tab sheet Detail dimensions shows the dimensions and a drawing of one angled stubon.

The following data fields are available for the run:

  • 'Material', the material standard of run. Use the buttons to change or remove a material standard. For further information see PCC material selection window.
  • 'Size', run pipe line size.
  • 'D00', outside diameter run pipe. When the run is a cone, the outside diameter is at the branch opening.
  • 'D01', outside diameter run tapered end.
  • 'W02', tapering length run. This is necessary for tapering.
  • 'L00', half length of run, required for drawing purpose.
  • 't00', nominal thickness run.
  • 't01', nominal thickness run tapered end. This is necessary for tapering.
  • 'alpha', half angle of run cone.
  • 'tol', thickness tolerance of run.

The following data fields are available for the branch:

  • 'Material', material standard of branch. Use the buttons to change or remove a material standard. For further information see PCC material selection window.
  • 'Size', branch pipe or fitting standard size. Note that the selection button needs to change between pipe or welded fitting.
  • 'D10', outside diameter of branch at branch pipe connection.
  • 'D11', outside diameter branch tapered end.
  • 't10', nominal thickness branch.
  • 't11', nominal thickness branch tapered end.
  • 'H02', Tapering length branch. This is necessary for tapering.
  • 'L10', branch outside length.
  • 'L11', branch set through length.
  • 'phi', angle of branch with run pipe, cone or sphere. The default angle is 45 degrees.
  • 'tol1', thickness tolerance of branch.
