1. General

This section describes the education/training/qualification levels for Company functions and personnel.

It contains guidelines for evaluating and satisfying the training needs of all personnel that through their activities affect quality.

Training needs shall be identified and the methods provided for all levels of personnel within Company.

2. Quality Program Training

The training of personnel in the understanding and use of the Quality Program shall be implemented, including the use of the methods and techniques needed for full participation.

Management personnel shall possess an understanding of the criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of the Quality Program.

3. Function Training

Necessary training shall be given to Company personnel to enhance their contribution to the success of Company (ref.23.5.4).

Particular attention shall be given to the selection and training of newly recruited personnel and also to those transferred to new positions/assignments or functions within Company.

Experience and on-the-job training shall be recorded as suitable qualification in addition to, or instead of, formal education.

The need to officially qualify Company personnel shall be evaluated taking into consideration both experience and demonstrated skills as well as formal education and training.

Personnel performing specific tasks shall be qualified on the basis of appropriate education, training and/or experience.

Individuals that participate in an audit, henceforth referred to as "Lead Auditor" or "Auditor", may include members of the QA depart­ment and/or other personnel. Auditors from the Quality Assurance department shall be qualified in accordance with ref.23.5.1.

Company Inspectors shall be trained and qualified in accordance with requirements as laid down in the appropriate job descriptions. The guide for qualification of inspection personnel (ref.23.5.2) may be used as a reference document.

4. Appraisals

Yearly performance appraisals of all personnel, including Department Managers and Group Managers, shall be carried out by their managers (ref.23.5.3).

These appraisals shall be recorded and may include, but not be limited to:

  • past experience/performance/training/motivation
  • current experience/performance/training/motivation
  • future potential and motivation
  • further training.
