1 General

1.1 Description

This specification gives the requirements for low voltage cables, for aboveground and underground application up to a maximum working voltage of 750 volt.

1.2 Applicable Conditions and Regulations

1.2.1 All applicable standards of the country stated in the requisition.

1.2.2 All other national and / or local regulations applicable to this type of work.

1.3 Conflicting Requirements

In case of conflicts between the conditions and documents mentioned above or between these and the specification in hand, the severest requirements will govern. In case of conflicts between this specification and the requisition, the requirements of the requisition will govern.

Purchaser will not be obliged to check vendor’s documents etc. Purchaser will approve these in principle only. It will remain the responsibility of the vendor to manufacture the cables in accordance with this specification and requisition in a functional and workmanlike manner.

1.4 Additional Quantities

Additional quantities of up to a maximum of 25% of the value of the original order shall be delivered within two months maximum.

The additional quantities shall be of the same construction as the cables originally ordered.

The minimum drum length, which shall be added, will be 100 meters.

1.5 Transport and Off-loading Facilities on Site

Transport and off-loading shall be carried out by vendor, under vendor’s responsibility and vendor’s account. Parts of cables damaged during production, loading, transportation and unloading shall be replaced free of charge and without delay.

1.6 Price Calculation

1.6.1 Bidders shall base their price quotations on a copper price of ..... EUR/kg and a lead price of ..... EUR/kg.

1.6.2 Bidders shall also state the price variation for each cable type per 1, 000 meters caused by rise or fall in the rate of copper and lead.

The price will become firm on the day of order award.

1.6.3 Quotations without copper and lead weights will not be accepted as the weighs will be required for analyzation of bids.

2 Aboveground Cables

Aboveground cables will be mounted on cable trays, against cable straps or in conduits.

3 Underground Cables

Underground cables will be buried at a depth of approximately 70 cm and covered by flat protection tiles.

5 Requirements

5.1 All cores up to 6 sq.mm shall be solid. Cores of 10 sq.mm and up shall be stranded.

5.2 Ground conductor shall consist of wires with a minimum diameter of 0.25 mm. Ground wire shall be in direct contact with the lead sheath. If there is no lead sheath, the ground conductor shall be in contact with the armouring steel. Where required, the wires shall be tinned.

5.3 All cables shall be new and unused. Each drum length shall be uninterrupted.

5.4 With his bid, vendor shall furnish following information.

5.4.1 Complete technical description of each type of cable, showing all PVC, rubber and lead sheath thicknesses, dimensions of steel and copper wires, diameter over lead, diameter under armour, diameter over armour, diameter overall, thicknesses of lead sheath, cross section of ground wires, maximum allowed pulling forces, bending radius, weight, etc.

5.4.2 Summary of latest standards and tests with which the cables comply.

5.4.3 Samples Note: Quotations without samples will not be accepted.

5.4.4 Vendors shall furnish with their bids current rating tables based upon the site conditions and temperatures mentioned in the requisition, and one cable installed, inclusive of data regarding resistance, capacitance etc.

5.4.5 Breakdown of the uninterrupted lengths in which the cables of each item will be supplied.

5.4.6 Cables to be supplied in lengths of 1.000 meters to avoid excessive amounts of scrap in the field.

6 Tolerances

Maximum allowed tolerance on reel lengths 5%.

Maximum allowed tolerance on total length 1%.

7 Resistivity against Chemicals

Vendor will ensure that the type of cables quoted are completely resistant to the chemicals and / or products mentioned in the requisition.

Vendor will therefore be requested to propose alternatives, in case the cables mentioned in the requisition are technically and / or economically not the best solution.
